HCi launches a new writing courseAfter years of development of a sophisticated and comprehensive method for helping companies capture and document their processes, HCi has released a training course - intended originally only for its own clients - which tells exactly how to research and write effective performance support documentation to support compliance management and process improvement. “We built the course so that we could do a more effective handover when we finish documenting processes within a client company,” said HCi Director Phil Cohen. “Then we realised that we had a course that was unique not just in the Australian market, but in the world market. No-one provides training exactly like this, anywhere.” HCi’s first course was sold out within days of being open to the public, and a second course has been scheduled. “We very quickly realised that there is a tremendous pent-up demand for this kind of training,” said Cohen. “We’re expecting the second course to fill up quickly as well, and we may need to look at a third, or even a fourth run to cope with the demand in the near term.” The course is titled Writing Effective Performance Support Documentation, and runs for one day. It covers all of the key skills and concepts that are needed for process documentation - flowcharting, layout, Plain English, playscript ... and HCi’s own TOPIC methodology. “TOPIC is the key that holds the whole thing together. It’s very simple - just a list of questions, really - but it’s a powerful way of ensuring that the document you produce actually does the job,” said Cohen. The course is open both to individuals and to companies, and costs $495 (inc. GST) for a full day, including 80-page student notes and photocopyable worksheets.
